The Objectivity of Subjective Truths
Professor Semir Zeki, UCL

Venue:

About this lecture:
The talk will address the changing concepts of Truth in the light of brain imaging experiments. It will address questions such as whether beauty and the intensity of love can ever be objectively measured and will conclude – contrary to what is generally believed - that the only verifiable truths are actually the subjective ones, not those that can be objectively determined.

About the speaker:
Since 1970 Zeki has been based at University College, being appointed the Professor of Neurobiology in 1981. He was Co-Head of the Wellcome Department of Cognitive Neuroscience at University College London from 1994 to 2001. Since March 2008 he is first Professor of Neuroesthetics at University College London.
